As part of the transition to PBR, many of Cerridwen’s Cauldron mesh sets will receive updates to the superior PBR texture system while retaining the original legacy (blinn-phong) textures. At Cerridwen’s Cauldron, we want to provide these updates free of charge, regardless of the purchase date. However, this demands significant time and effort per set, which could otherwise be directed towards creating new income-generating sets.
Actually, many other brands are taking the understandable approach of simply charging for PBR versions as full new sets. To address this challenge and still offer our customers and patrons updates to PBR for their existing sets, we are introducing the experimental PBR Project.

Under the PBR Project, Cerridwen’s Cauldron will update past sets to PBR at no cost, involving re-scripting and texture corrections which will result in a much superior and modern look. When a new PBR version of a set is ready, it will replace the old legacy materials version on vendors, and updates will be sent to all previous owners. In return, for each PBR Updated Set, we will create an exclusive new PBR Project single texture variant of the set, or sometimes exclusive PBR variants for sets that were created already with PBR in mind. These variants will feature unique PBR textures such as ice, magma, metals, gems, bones, special color variations, etc., which are not suitable for inclusion in fat-packs. They will also have traditional materials texturing, although the texturing will be aimed directly at getting great looking, fun and unusual PBR variants, which might not translate well to traditional materials. They will never be included in fat-packs or other type of packs, as their purpose is precisely to find a way to support the investment in updating your already owned sets to PBR for free.
The sale of these Special Editions will support the conversion of further sets to PBR. The success of this project hinges on the support of our customers, as their patronage through the purchase of these exclusive variants will offset the costs associated with offering free updates. If the PBR Project proves viable, we will continue to provide updates to PBR on older sets at no additional charge, which would be extremely exciting!
